Outside: aluminum protection
The aluminum outer layer handles sun, moisture, salty air and mechanical damage. No painting required for the entire lifespan of the building.
A top-tier window combining aluminum protection on the outside with the warmth of wood inside. Our recommendation for villas, premium apartments, hotels and buildings in mountain and coastal zones.

In high-end residential construction, alu-wood joinery is nearly a standard. The reason is simple — it resolves the trade-off between durability and aesthetic that every other material has to make. Aluminum on the outside handles everything — sun, moisture, salty air, mechanical damage — with no painting or other intervention required across the entire lifespan. Wood on the inside gives the interior a level of character that metal and plastic do not achieve.
For buildings in mountain and coastal zones this is the optimal combination. In the mountains (Žabljak, Kolašin, Durmitor) people are looking for the warmth of wood, which simply is not there in aluminum or PVC variants. On the coast, owners of luxury villas don't want a trade-off — they're looking for a material that handles salt and sun outside and delivers authentic character inside. Alu-wood answers both needs.
The aluminum outer layer handles sun, moisture, salty air and mechanical damage. No painting required for the entire lifespan of the building.
A real timber inner layer gives the interior an authentic, warm character. Oak, pine, walnut or premium species per your preference.
Wood and aluminum as composites deliver excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, often better than a standard PVC or aluminum window.
A properly maintained alu-wood window can last two generations. The outer aluminum protects the interior wood from external influences.
The structural strength of the composite enables large sashes and panoramic openings without visible deformation over time.
In the world of luxury buildings, alu-wood is almost the standard. It delivers a level of detail that other materials struggle to achieve.

Oak is the most common choice for alu-wood joinery — strong, resistant to deformation, with a wide range of finishes that highlight the grain. Pine and spruce are more affordable alternatives with a lighter tone and softer texture. For premium builds, consider walnut (a deeper, more intense tone), teak or cedar (tropical woods with natural moisture resistance).
The interior wood finish can be a clear varnish (highlights the natural grain), an oil finish (gives a matte, natural look), or a tinted varnish (shifts the shade). When choosing we also look at interior styles — a contemporary minimalist design often calls for lighter wood with a discreet finish, while a classic interior may call for darker wood with an intense varnish.
In Montenegro, alu-wood is still a niche choice — mostly for coastal villas (Luštica Bay, Porto Montenegro, premium buildings in Herceg Novi), residential complexes in Podgorica, and vacation homes in the mountains (Žabljak, Durmitor, Kolašin). Local availability of these systems is limited, so alu-wood windows are typically ordered from specialized European factories.
Lead times are longer than for standard systems — several weeks, depending on the system and the order size. When planning renovations or new construction, we recommend getting in touch early so the joinery aligns with the other phases of the project, and we state the exact deadline in the written quote.
Arrange a consultation for your project ↗Alu-wood joinery is a hybrid window or door where the outer layer is aluminum and the inner element is real wood. Two materials are bonded into a single composite construction — the aluminum carries the role of external protection and aesthetic, the wood gives warmth and natural character to the interior.
Alu-wood joinery is a premium segment. Prices in Montenegro start at around €500/m² for standard builds and can reach €1,000+/m² for premium systems with walnut or tropical woods. The exact price is provided after you choose the wood, system and configuration.
Alu-wood is a frequent choice for villas, residential buildings, premium apartments and hotels. It is particularly well-suited for buildings in mountain zones (which call for the warmth of wood) as well as contemporary villas along the coast (where the aluminum side handles the salty air).
Standard options are oak, pine and spruce. Premium variants include walnut, mahogany, teak and cedar. The choice depends on the look you want (light, medium or dark wood), budget, and the stylistic direction of the interior.
Yes, the interior wood side may require periodic treatment with varnish or oil — every 7–10 years, depending on sun exposure through the glass. The exterior aluminum side requires no maintenance across the entire lifespan.
In most cases, yes. Wood is a naturally good insulator, so the combination with an aluminum outer layer often delivers better thermal insulation than a standard aluminum window with a thermal break. Acoustic insulation is also often better — wood absorbs sound better than metal.
Yes. The exterior aluminum side can come in almost any RAL color via powder coating or anodizing. Anthracite RAL 7016, white, black, brown and other variants are standard options. The interior wood side remains in its natural color or with a selected finish.
Yes. Alu-wood lift-and-slide (HS) systems are almost the rule in premium villas with panoramic openings. They enable large sliding sashes with outstanding thermal insulation and an interior wood look that ties the room to its furnishings.
